So is it just me or does everyone stay at least one minor version behind the current WordPress release?

I’ve noticed with minor or major releases that WordPress unleashes all sorts of wild updates that break perfectly good websites.

Also with the new version 7 out I’m reluctant to upgrade. I always leave about 2-3 months before considering updating as there’s bound to be bugs that need ironing out.

Also if you’re on managed hosting make sure your auto updates are off on the sites as by default they will force new WordPress updates, which could break your sites.
